Palaeoenvironment of a mesolithic peat bed from Austin Friars, Leicester [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
A mesolithic peat bed, dated to 9920±100 bp (HAR-4260) (bp = radiocarbon years before the present calculated from A.D. 19S0 within + or - of 100 years in this case. Ed.) was recovered from Austin Friars, Leicester.

Navigating the Ethereal Tightrope: The Nanogenerator Manipulates Neurons for Immune Equilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores how nanogenerators modulate neuroimmune responses, offering innovative strategies for treating neurological disorders. By interfacing with neural pathways, they enable precise control of immune activity, especially via vagus nerve stimulation.

Energy Saving Performance of Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems with Different Heat-Recovery Fresh-Air Units in Residential Buildings

open access: yesZhileng xuebao
To address the issues of poor air quality and the lack of fresh air in traditional variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, VRF systems and fresh air units are commonly used in combination in practical engineering applications. However, these systems are

Unraveling the Role of Vegetation CO2 Physiological Forcing on Climate Zone Shifts in China

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Increasing atmospheric CO2 causes substantial spatial and seasonal changes in air temperature and precipitation through its radiative (RAD) and vegetation physiological (PHY) effects.

Flipping the Switch: MeCP2‐Mediated Lactylation Rewires Microglial Metabolism and Inflammation via the HK2/mTOR Axis in Poststroke Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stroke‐induced lactate accumulation promotes p300‐mediated lactylation of methyl‐CpG binding protein 2 (MeCP2) at lysine 210, which reprograms microglial metabolism toward glycolysis and activates the hexokinase 2 (HK2)/mTOR axis. This cascade promotes proinflammatory responses and impairs neurofunctional outcomes.

Astrocytic PCBP1 Suppresses Ferroptosis to Restore Glutamatergic Homeostasis and Mitigate Stress‐Induced Depression in Male Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that polyC‐RNA‐binding protein 1 (PCBP1) in ventral hippocampal astrocytes modulates depressive‐like behaviors by regulating glutathione peroxidase 4‐mediated ferroptosis and synaptic glutamatergic transmission. PCBP1 overexpression intervention in the chronic unpredictable mild stress model rescues behavioral deficits ...

Mechanisms of generation and accumulation of geogenic Cr(VI) in serpentinite-weathered soils

open access: yesGeoderma
Natural oxidation of geogenic Cr(III) to carcinogenic Cr(VI) is a major source of Cr contamination in soil and water. However, the mechanisms of Cr(VI) generation and occurrence under anoxic conditions remain unclear.
