Surrogate Endpoint Evaluation: Principal Stratification Criteria and the Prentice Definition

open access: yesJournal of Causal Inference, 2015
A common problem of interest within a randomized clinical trial is the evaluation of an inexpensive response endpoint as a valid surrogate endpoint for a clinical endpoint, where a chief purpose of a valid surrogate is to provide a way to make correct ...

Effect of electrolyzed high-pH alkaline water on blood viscosity in healthy adults. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: Previous research has shown fluid replacement beverages ingested after exercise can affect hydration biomarkers. No specific hydration marker is universally accepted as an ideal rehydration parameter following strenuous exercise.

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Rethinking bioequivalence and equivalence requirements of orally inhaled drug products

open access: yesAsian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2015
Orally inhaled drug products (OIPs), such as corticosteroids and bronchodilators, are at the forefront of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease treatments, two diseases that afflict worldwide populations. Introducing generics of these products

HTX-011 reduced pain intensity and opioid consumption versus bupivacaine HCl in bunionectomy: phase III results from the randomized EPOCH 1 study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: There is a need for local anesthetics that provide consistent analgesia through 72 hours after surgery. This study evaluates the use of HTX-011 (bupivacaine and meloxicam in Biochronomerpolymer technology), an extended-release,

Interleukin-1 blockade in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: rationale and design of the Diastolic Heart Failure Anakinra Response Trial 2 (D-HART2) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) now accounts for the majority of con-firmed HF cases in the United States. However, there are no highly effective evidence-basedtreatments currently available for these patients.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

A Multicenter Phase II Trial of Docetaxel, Cisplatin, and Cetuximab (TPEx) Followed by Cetuximab and Concurrent Radiotherapy for Patients With Local Advanced Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck (CSPOR HN01: ECRIPS Study)

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2019
Background: Induction chemotherapy (IC) is a treatment option for locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (LA SCCHN). However, treatment with docetaxel, cisplatin, and 5-FU (TPF) followed by cisplatin and radiotherapy is ...
