Trypanosoma equiperdum in the horse : a neglected threat? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Dourine is a contagious disease caused by Trypanosoma equiperdum that is transmitted directly from animal to animal during coitus. Dourine is known as an important disease in many countries, and it threatens equidae worldwide.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Noninvasive Diagnostic Tests for Helicobacter Pylori Infection in Children

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2005
Noninvasive tests can be used for the initial diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection and to monitor the success of eradication therapy. In populations with a low prevalence of H pylori infection (children living in North America and Europe), a high ...

Olaparib synergy screen reveals Exemestane induces replication stress in triple‐negative breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Screening 166 FDA‐approved anticancer drugs identifies the aromatase inhibitor Exemestane as a synergistic partner of PARP inhibitor Olaparib in BRCA‐proficient triple‐negative breast cancer. Exemestane induces ROS‐mediated replication stress, enhancing DNA damage and apoptosis alongside Olaparib.

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Comparison of Diagnostic Methods in Hospitalized Patients With Brucellosis in Iran [PDF]

open access: yes
Diagnosis of brucellosis is based on clinical symptoms and positive laboratory results. Because specificity of the serology tests is not satisfactory and sensitivity of the culture is low, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) can be an alternative method in ...
