Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Effectiveness of HoofCare® in the treatment of digital dermatitis in dairy cows

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of topical HoofCare® in the treatment of digital dermatitis (DD) in dairy cows. Thirty-six high-yielding Holstein cows with DD in at least one limb were included and randomly divided into two groups, making

Single-Cell Transcriptomics Sheds Light on Tumor Evolution: Perspectives from City of Hope’s Clinical Trial Teams

open access: yes
Tumor heterogeneity is a significant factor influencing cancer treatment effectiveness and can arise from genetic, epigenetic, and phenotypic variations among cancer cells.

New paradigms in clonal evolution: punctuated equilibrium in cancer

open access: yes, 2016
Evolutionary theories are themselves subject to evolution. Clonal evolution – the model that describes the initiation and progression of cancer – is entering a period of profound change, brought about largely by technological developments in genome ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Adapting Clinical Paradigms to the Challenges of Cancer Clonal Evolution

open access: yes, 2013
Emerging evidence suggests that cancer branched evolution may affect biomarker validation, clinical outcome, and emergence of drug resistance. The changing spatial and temporal nature of cancer subclonal architecture during the disease course suggests ...
