CircCCNB1 inhibits vasculogenic mimicry by sequestering NF90 to promote miR‐15b‐5p and miR‐7‐1‐3p processing in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircCCNB1 expression is down‐regulated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC); thus, less NF90 protein is bound to circCCNB1 and more binds to pri‐miRNAs, blocking their (pri‐miRNAs) binding to DGCR8 and inhibiting the processing and generation of miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p. Furthermore, decreased miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p promotes the expression of the target genes

Protocol for oral transplantation of maternal fecal microbiota to newborn infants born by cesarean section

open access: yesSTAR Protocols, 2021
Summary: Infants born by cesarean section have an intestinal microbiota that differs from that of infants delivered vaginally. Here, we report a protocol for performing oral transplantation of maternal fecal microbiota to newborn infants born by elective

A real-world intention-to-treat analysis of a decade’s experience of treatment of hepatitis C with interferon-based therapies [version 1; referees: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2016
Objectives: To assess the uptake of pegylated interferon (PegIFN) plus ribavirin (RBV)-based regimens in patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) in a large, single-centre, real-world setting over 10 years.

Rank the triplets: A ranking-based multiple instance learning framework for detecting HPV infection in head and neck cancers using routine H&E images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The aetiology of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) involves multiple carcinogens such as alcohol, tobacco and infection with human papillomavirus (HPV). As the HPV infection influences the prognosis, treatment and survival of patients with HNSCC, it is important to determine the HPV status of these tumours. In this paper, we propose a novel

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Biomarker Clustering of Colorectal Cancer Data to Complement Clinical Classification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
In this paper, we describe a dataset relating to cellular and physical conditions of patients who are operated upon to remove colorectal tumours. This data provides a unique insight into immunological status at the point of tumour removal, tumour classification and post-operative survival. Attempts are made to cluster this dataset and important subsets

Glycans Instructing Immunity: The Emerging Role of Altered Glycosylation in Clinical Immunology

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2015
Protein glycosylation is an important epigenetic modifying process affecting expression, localization, and function of numerous proteins required for normal immune function.

A Case of Pulmonary Benign Metastasizing Leiomyoma Occurring after Uterine Myomectomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Benign metastasizing leiomyoma (BML) is a very rare disease, and although it was reported as early as1939 to result from metastasis of benign uterine myoma to the lungs and lymph nodes, its pathology remainsobscure.

Human Schistosome Infection and Allergic Sensitisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Several field studies have reported an inverse relationship between the prevalence of helminth infections and that of allergic sensitisation/atopy. Recent studies show that immune responses induced by helminth parasites are, to an extent, comparable to ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.
