National Asthma Education and Prevention Program: Expert Panel Report 2. Guidelines for the diagnosis and management of asthma: Translating research for clinicians and patients

open access: yesAllergology International, 1999
Asthma is a chronic, inflammatory disease of the airways that exacts a large burden of illness among patients, their families, and the health-care system. Yet advances in research have generated the means for addressing this public health problem.

Guidelines on Performing Prostate Biopsy. Systematic development of clinical practice guidelines for prostate biopsies: a 3-year Italian project.

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND: The only available method to detect prostate cancer is prostate biopsy; however, to our knowledge, no evidence-based clinical practice guidelines have been established on this topic.

Effective implementation of research into practice: an overview of systematic reviews of the health literature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background The gap between research findings and clinical practice is well documented and a range of interventions has been developed to increase the implementation of research into clinical practice.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Indian Psychiatric Society Survey on Clinical Practice Guidelines

open access: yesIndian Journal of Psychiatry, 2017
Aim: This survey aimed to assess the utility of the earlier published clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) by IPS and to understand the expectations of members of Indian Psychiatric Society from the proposed revised CPGs.

Improving Clinical Practice Guidelines [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA Internal Medicine, 2014
According to a 2011 definition from the Institute ofMedicine, clinical practice guidelines provide “recommendations intended to optimize patient care,” and “are informed by a systematic reviewof evidence and an assessment of the benefits and harms of alternative care options.” It has been known for years that the quality of guidelines varies ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

ESR1 methylation and ESR1 mutations in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and paired plasma‐cfDNA of advanced breast cancer patients: A feasibility proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...
