Fully integrated InGaAs/InP single-photon detector module with gigahertz sine wave gating

open access: yes, 2012
InGaAs/InP single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) working in the regime of GHz clock rates are crucial components for the high-speed quantum key distribution (QKD).

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Power Reduction by Clock Gating Technique

open access: yesProcedia Technology, 2015
AbstractA continuous increase in the number of transistors mounted on a single chip brings about the need for power optimization. In this era, where technologies such as smart grid are developed, scope for power optimisation is increasing. Smart grid is an integration of essential building blocks such as sensor system, control units into existing power

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Design and evaluation of clock-gating-based approximate multiplier for error-tolerant applications

open access: yesMemories - Materials, Devices, Circuits and Systems
The multipliers are essential components in real-time applications. Although approximation arithmetic affects the output accuracy in multipliers, it offers a realistic avenue for constructing power-, area--, and speed-efficient digital circuits.

Power minimization by clock root gating [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2003 conference on Asia South Pacific design automation - ASPDAC, 2003
Clock root gating transformation targets power savings on the clock tree by inserting gating logic at the root of the clock. In this paper, we propose an efficient graph-based algorithm to solve the root clock gating optimization problem. The algorithm is also tightly integrated with a clock tree synthesis tool so that real power savings can be ...

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Miniaturized high-frequency sine wave gating InGaAs/InP single-photon detector

open access: yes, 2018
High-frequency gating InGaAs/InP single-photon detectors (SPDs) are widely used for applications requiring single-photon detection in the near-infrared region such as quantum key distribution.
