Hazard-free clock synchronization

2022

Hypercube clock synchronization

Concurrency: Practice and Experience, 1992
AbstractAlgorithms for synchronizing the times and frequencies of the clocks of Intel and Ncube hypercube multiprocessors are presented. Bounds for the error in estimating clock offsets and frequencies are formulated in terms of the clock read error and message transmission time. Clock and communication performance of the Ncube and Intel hypercubes are

Harmonious internal clock synchronization

Proceedings 12th Euromicro Conference on Real-Time Systems. Euromicro RTS 2000, 2002
Internal clock synchronization has been investigated, or employed for quite a number of years, under the requirement of good upper bounds for the deviation, or accuracy, between a predefined master node M and slaves S1, S2, etc. It has been tacitly assumed that the accuracy range between slaves SI and S2 was just the same as for the master/slave.

Network Clock Frequency Synchronization

Proceedings IEEE INFOCOM 2006. 25TH IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications, 2006
The emergence of network convergence emphasizes the need to support distributed synchronous servers such as TDMoIP (pseudo-wire) and 3G cellular gateways over a packet switched infrastructure. Consequently, we formalize the problem of network wide clock frequency synchronization and introduce novel and efficient algorithms to synchronize the frequency ...

Clock synchronization for fractal modulation

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 2002
We propose a naive algorithm for the timing recovery for fractal modulation. We first investigate the bit error rate due to the clock error of a fractal modulation. Then, we propose clock synchronization techniques for fractal modulation. Our acquisition algorithm uses exclusively the self-similar property of fractal for signal modulation.

Interval-based Clock Synchronization

Real-Time Systems, 1997
In this paper, we develop and analyze a simple interval-based algorithm suitable for fault-tolerant external clock synchronization. Unlike usual internal synchronization approaches, our convergence function-based algorithm provides approximately synchronized clocks maintaining both precision and accuracy w.r.t. external time.

Synchronizing clocks in the presence of faults

Journal of the ACM, 1985
Algorithms are described for maintaining clock synchrony in a distributed multiprocess system where each process has its own clock. These algorithms work in the presence of arbitrary clock or process failures, including “two-faced clocks” that present different values to different processes.
