Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Hormone Receptor Loss in Breast Cancer: Molecular Mechanisms, Clinical Settings, and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesCells, 2020
Hormone receptor-positive breast cancer (HR+ BC) accounts for approximately 75% of new BC diagnoses. Despite the undisputable progresses obtained in the treatment of HR+ BC in recent years, primary or acquired resistance to endocrine therapies still ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Environmentally selected aphid variants in clonality context display differential patterns of methylation in the genome.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Heritability of acquired phenotypic traits is an adaptive evolutionary process that appears more complex than the basic allele selection guided by environmental pressure.

Winter hardiness of apple clonal rootstocks in Southern Cisbaikalia [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The paper presents the results of a study of apple clonal rootstocks carried out in 2017-2022 in the trial plots located in the Irkutsk region. The objects of the study were clonal rootstocks from various scientific institutions.

Explaining microbial population genomics through phage predation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The remarkable diversity of genes within the pool of prokaryotic genomes belonging to the same species or pan-genome is difficult to reconcile with the widely accepted paradigm which asserts that periodic selection within bacterial populations would ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Multicast routing with delay constrain based on improved CSA

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2009
With the application of the good gene information in the immaturity subpopulation, the improved clonal selection algorithm which was proposed, combined the principle of minimum cost and delay constrains to modify each individual gene so as to improve ...

Selection and clonal propagation of eucalyptus

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1988
Most eucalyptus plantations are started with seedlings that are highly variable in growth rate and form. Although breeding programs are under way to improve the quality of eucalyptus seed, the improvements are not expected to come soon.

Classification results of coronary heart disease database by using the clonal selection method with receptor editing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The clonal selection principle is used to explain the basic features of an adaptive immune response to a antigenic stimulus. It established the idea that only those cells that recognize the antigens are selected to proliferate and differentiate.
