Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Therapeutic cloning research and ethical oversight

open access: yes, 2003
Cloning Trevor, a story about therapeutic cloning research, appeared in the June issue of The Atlantic Monthly. The story gives a human face to the people whom therapeutic cloning could benefit.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Ethical issues regarding human cloning: a nursing perspective

open access: yes, 2003
Advances in cloning technology and successful cloning experiments in animals raised concerns about the possibility of human cloning in recent years. Despite many objections, this is not only a possibility but also a reality. Human cloning is a scientific
