From Dinuclear Systems to Close Binary Stars: Application to Mass Transfer
Applying the microscopic nuclear physics ideas to macroscopic stellar systems, we study the evolution of the compact di-stars in mass asymmetry (transfer) coordinate.

The Birth Function for Black Holes and Neutron Stars in Close Binaries [PDF]
The mass function for black holes and neutron stars at birth is explored for mass-losing helium stars. These should resemble, more closely than similar studies of single hydrogen-rich stars, the results of evolution in close binary systems.

Stellar Properties of Observed Stars Stripped in Binaries in the Magellanic Clouds
Massive stars (∼8–25 M _⊙ ) stripped of their hydrogen-rich envelopes via binary interaction are thought to be the main progenitors for merging neutron stars and stripped-envelope supernovae.

High-velocity stars from the interaction of a globular cluster and a massive black hole binary [PDF]
High-velocity stars are usually thought to be the dynamical product of the interaction of binary systems with supermassive black holes. In this paper, we investigate a particular mechanism of production of high-velocity stars as due to the close ...

CLOSE BINARY SYSTEMS ON LATE EVOLUTIONARY STAGES
Observational and theoretical progress in investigations of close binary stars allow to understand the nature and evolution of many types of close binary systems containing peculiar components: Wolf-Rayet stars, white dwarfs neutron stars and black holes.

CLOSE-IN STELLAR COMPANIONS IN CLOSE BINARY STARS [PDF]
Close binary stars are so close that one component has an effect on the evolution of the other. But how do they form and evolve? This is an unsolved problem. One speculation is that the binary is a part of a hierarchical triple and its orbit shrinks due to interaction with the third component.

THE CLOSE BINARY PROPERTIES OF MASSIVE STARS IN THE MILKY WAY AND LOW-METALLICITY MAGELLANIC CLOUDS [PDF]
In order to understand the rates and properties of Type Ia and Type Ib/c supernovae, X-ray binaries, gravitational wave sources, and gamma-ray bursts as a function of galactic environment and cosmic age, it is imperative that we measure how the close ...

The evolution of close helium star to neutron star binaries [PDF]
We present the evolution of helium stars in binary systems with a 1.4 M⊙ neutron-star companion which will produce double neutron-star binaries, i.e., systems with helium stars more massive than 2.5 M⊙. We found that mass transfer from helium star less massive than ~ 3.3 M⊙ will end up in a common-envelope phase.

Irrotational binary neutron stars in quasiequilibrium [PDF]
We report on numerical results from an independent formalism to describe the quasi-equilibrium structure of nonsynchronous binary neutron stars in general relativity.
