Comparative Efficacy and Safety of Anakinra and Canakinumab in Patients With VEXAS Syndrome: An International Multicenter Study

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Volume 78, Issue 2, Page 475-482, February 2026.
Objective The aim of this study was to compare differences in clinical response, drug survival, and adverse event rates between anakinra and canakinumab in VEXAS (vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X‐linked, autoinflammatory, somatic) syndrome. Methods This multicenter international study includes patients with VEXAS from France, Israel, and Italy treated with ...

FECAL CALPROTECTIN AS A MARKER OF INFLAMMATION IN THE COLON AT DIFFERENT VARIANTS OF CLOSTRIDIUM DIFFICILE-INFECTIONS COURSE IN CHILDREN

open access: yesДетские инфекции (Москва), 2015
The article discusses possible application of determination of the fecal calprotectin level in children with antibiotic-associated diarrhea caused by Clostridium difficile — infection to detect inflammation in various parts of the gastrointestinal tract.

Modulating the Gut Microbiome as a Therapeutic Approach in Multiple Sclerosis: Implications for Gut‐Brain Interactions and Immune Pathways: A Narrative Review

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
The gut microbiome in multiple sclerosis (MS) shows consistent depletion of short‐chain fatty acid (SCFA)‐producing bacteria, expansion of pro‐inflammatory species, and reduced levels of butyrate, propionate, and indole metabolites. These alterations increase intestinal permeability, disrupt immune balance, and contribute to blood–brain barrier ...

Key Research Issues in Clostridium difficile

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, 2005
Clostridium difficile is an emerging pathogen that causes C difficile-associated diarrhea, an important nosocomial infection. Control of this infection remains a challenge, and much needs to be determined about the antimicrobial resistance of the ...

Clinical and Pathological Features of Ulcerative Colitis in Patients with and without Clostridium Difficile Infection; An Observational Study

open access: yesMiddle East Journal of Digestive Diseases, 2019
BACKGROUND A dramatic rise in the rate of clostridium difficile infection (CDI) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been reported in recent years. METHODS In this observational case control study, 65 patients ulcerative colitis (UC)

Gut microbiota and central nervous system's direct bidirectional regulation: The mechanisms of the gut–brain axis in irritable bowel syndrome

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 1, February 2026.
Gut microbiota directly modulates central nervous system activity via vagal, sympathetic and sensory neural circuits. Brainstem nuclei integrate microbial signals to regulate gut motility, secretion and visceral sensitivity. DRG neurons and stress‐responsive pathways link microbial cues to host defence and epithelial homeostasis. Dysregulated gut–brain

Effects of Age, Sex, and Social Network on Antibiotic Resistance Genes in the Gut Microbiome of Tibetan Macaques (Macaca thibetana)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
Based on metagenomic and behavioral data from wild Tibetan macaques, this study reveals a unique gut resistome profile dominated by multidrug resistance genes. While individual factors like age, sex, and social centrality did not affect overall ARG diversity, they significantly influenced the abundance of specific, high‐prevalence ARGs.
