Reasoning about exceptions in ontologies: from the lexicographic closure to the skeptical closure
Reasoning about exceptions in ontologies is nowadays one of the challenges the description logics community is facing. The paper describes a preferential approach for dealing with exceptions in Description Logics, based on the rational closure.

As the title indicates, this is a survey of results involving various types of closure conditions, where closure conditions involve adding an edge to a graph without changing the existence of some specified graphical property. Most of the graphical properties studied are hamiltonian type properties such as hamiltonian, panconnected, pancyclic, and ...

Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

A study of fatigue crack closure using electric potential and compliance techniques [PDF]
Compared are closure data produced on the same specimen by the crack tip compliance gage and electric potential techniques. Experiments on 7075-T651 aluminum center cracked panels produced equivalent results on closure using the two techniques.

Closure systems and closure hypergroups
Given a closure system, a hyperoperation is defined by setting as hyperproduct of two elements the minimum element containing them. Some properties on the topic are proved, and the concept of a closure hypergroup is defined.
