The reaction between the methanol radical cation and sulfur dioxide is remarkably fast and forms several ionic and neutral products (HOSOH+, CH2OSO+, CH2OH+, CH2O, H2O, HSO2). The chemistry goes beyond simple proton or hydrogen transfer, revealing a close interaction between the two species, relevant to atmospheric and astrochemical environments where ...

Does the POA–SOA split matter for global CCN formation? [PDF]
A model of carbonaceous aerosols has been implemented in the TwO-Moment Aerosol Sectional (TOMAS) microphysics module in the GEOS-Chem chemical transport model (CTM), a model driven by assimilated meteorology.

ABSTRACT Microtubules are noncovalent polymers assembled from α/β tubulin dimers. Their structure, dynamics and interaction with effectors are regulated through the expression of diverse tubulin isotypes and chemically diverse posttranslational modifications, also known as the “tubulin code.” Understanding the biophysical correlates between tubulin ...

Uncertainty in aerosol hygroscopicity resulting from semi-volatile organic compounds [PDF]
We present a novel method of exploring the effect of uncertainties in aerosol properties on cloud droplet number using existing cloud droplet activation parameterisations.

A deep eutectic solvent (ChCl/pTSA) platform enables integrated solvent, catalyst, and dopant functions, producing sulfur‐doped carbon quantum dots with a high sp2‐C content (82.8%) and a quantum yield of 56.9%. When combined with TiO2, the CQDs form TiOC and TiOS interfacial bridges, achieving 97.3% tetracycline photodegradation with excellent ...

Alternate Chemical Compounds as a Condensation Nucleus in Cloud Seeding [PDF]
Cloud seeding involves boosting precipitation by releasing substances into the air that act as cloud condensation or ice nuclei. These substances encourage the development of clouds and precipitation.

This review highlights recent advances in engineering messenger RNA (mRNA)‐lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to cross the ageing blood–brain barrier and target neurodegenerative diseases. It outlines design principles, delivery routes, and translational challenges, charting a roadmap towards clinical application of mRNA‐LNP therapeutics for neurodegenerative ...

Observing the role of wind-driven processes in the evolution of warm marine cloud properties [PDF]
The cloud droplet effective radius is a key variable when evaluating the interactions between aerosols and clouds. The activation of fine-sized sea salt from the ocean results in the formation of more but smaller cloud droplets (reducing the effective ...

Following traumatic brain injury, indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) directly targets the aryl hydrocarbon receptor on astrocytes in the peri‐lesional cortex; this suppresses interferon regulatory factor 1‐driven transcription of the E3 ubiquitin ligase RFFL (ring finger and FYVE‐like domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase).
