Cold and transition season cloud condensation nuclei measurements in western Colorado [PDF]
Recent studies have shown that orographic precipitation and the water resources that depend on it in the Colorado Rocky Mountains are sensitive to the variability of the region's aerosols, whether emitted locally or from distant sources.

Impact of fragmented urbanization on observed precipitation
This study investigates the impact of fragmented urban landscapes on downwind precipitation by applying an innovative observation‐centered approach to an extensive rain gauge network in Belgium. The approach classifies the observations based on the upwind urban land cover fraction, and compares precipitation indices between rural‐ and urban‐labeled ...

Polyion complex micelles composed of blends of ABA and AB block copolymers can form coacervates with a hexagonally packed cylinder nanostructure after heating. The resulting coacervates can release the micelles under physiological conditions in a zero‐order kinetics, possessing cargo proteins.

Abstract Background and Purpose Kininase I, comprising carboxypeptidase N (CPN) and carboxypeptidase M, regulates kinin activity and is up‐regulated during injury, inflammation and immune activation. Under these conditions, kininase I converts bradykinin and kallidin into des‐Arg kinins, primary endogenous agonists of the bradykinin B1 receptor (R ...

The effects of heating by transported dust layers on cloud and precipitation: a numerical study [PDF]
There have been numerous recent publications showing that mineral dust might be a good absorber for solar radiation in addition to its capability to act as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) and ice forming nuclei (IFN), and could lead to reduced cloud ...

Early human cortical development is organized by transient cellular compartments that define cortical types before mature layers form. Analysis of the human fetal pallium (7.5–15 PCW) shows distinct spatiotemporal trajectories for the archicortex, mesocortex, and neocortex, with delayed but accelerated differentiation in allocortical regions.

A Microkrystite from the Australasian Tektite/Microtektite Strewn Field
Abstract Microkrystites are glassy impact spherules. They contain primary crystallites carrying information on the physical and chemical conditions prevailing during vaporization, melting, and ejection in large impact cratering events. We report on the geochemistry and mineralogy down to nanometer scale of the first microkrystite (ODP1144A,14) from the

The role of highly oxygenated organic molecules in the Boreal aerosol-cloud-climate system
Forests emit compounds into the atmosphere that are oxidized into highly oxygenated molecules that serve as precursors for cloud condensation nuclei–a process that impacts the climate, but is poorly represented in models.

ABSTRACT Iron (Fe) homeostasis is regulated to prevent iron imbalance, with the help of redundant basic helix‐loop‐helix (bHLH) IVc transcription factors that can be controlled by Fe‐binding E3 ligases such as BRUTUS (BTS) in Arabidopsis thaliana.
