Reading and Writing, 2022Traditional cloze tests (such as the CBM-maze) may be poor measures of comprehension processes beyond the single sentence level. This paper presents an alternative, a deep cloze test with gaps that are strategically chosen to assess comprehension beyond the sentence level.

International Journal of Pedagogies and Learning, 2009Teachers can use cloze tests to help students develop proficiency in reading, vocabulary, grammar, and listening. Cloze Generator (CG), a software program developed by the authors, inserts blanks automatically in a text for each n-th word, for a certain part of speech, or for a certain level of vocabulary based on the JACET8000 word list.
