Graphical abstract demonstrating manufacturing process and property characterization used in process modelling of interlaminar behavior across the range of process parameters. ABSTRACT Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) of fiber‐reinforced thermoplastic tapes enables rapid manufacturing by leveraging precise robotic lamination and in situ consolidation ...

The Prefabrication of Glued Timber Houses for Residential Construction in Poland
Many countries, including Poland, are currently testing the construction of multi-family houses using a prefabricated system of glued laminated timber (CLT). Poland has a great potential for the application of wood technologies in the housing sector. The

Finite Element Analysis of Composite Laminated Timber (CLT)
In the research for sustainable construction, cross-laminated timber (CLT) has gained popularity and become a widely used engineered timber product. However, there are few numerical studies of the structural behaviour of CLT.

Manufacturability‐aware multi‐objective screening of Type IV filament‐wound composite pressure‐vessel cylindrical sections toward lightweight and high‐strength designs. ABSTRACT A manufacturability‐aware preliminary screening framework is proposed for the straight cylindrical section of filament‐wound Type IV composite pressure vessels.

Comparison of powder impregnation and hybrid commingled non‐wovens for PA6/rCF nonwoven composites. The two‐step powder route gives lower voids and higher properties, while the single‐step hybrid route is limited by precursor inhomogeneity and high void content.

We document the protocol and first results from the first ever coordinated multimodel variable‐resolution experiment set with refinement over the polar regions. We find that the refinement generally yields model‐dependent effects. The most consistent improvement is an amelioration of the upper‐level cold bias in the polar regions that translates into ...

ABSTRACT The increasing use of wood and wood‐based composites in construction reflects a global shift toward renewable materials that support sustainable development objectives, including carbon reduction and responsible resource use. While wood offers substantial environmental benefits compared to conventional materials such as concrete and steel, its

ABSTRACT ‘Hard’ natural sciences have extensively been used to provide evidence that climate change is happening and climate action is needed. If the contribution of our economic activities to disturbing our climate systems is now largely accepted, the way in which we design and operationalise ‘climate action’—how we transition to more sustainable ...

Aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty in the overstrength of CLT-to-CLT screwed connections
The most common and practical connection between CLT walls can be realized with inclined screws. This choice avoids the realization of more elaborated half-lap or spline joints. The failure mechanism of CLT-to-CLT screwed connections is highly ductile.
