Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Single-cluster dynamics for the random-cluster model

open access: yes, 2009
We formulate a single-cluster Monte Carlo algorithm for the simulation of the random-cluster model. This algorithm is a generalization of the Wolff single-cluster method for the $q$-state Potts model to non-integer values $q>1$.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Exploring fluoropolymers for fabrication of femtoliter chamber arrays used in digital bioanalysis

open access: yesScientific Reports
The global supply of fluoropolymers and fluorinated solvents is decreasing due to environmental concerns regarding polyfluoroalkyl substances. CYTOP has been used for decades primarily as a component of a femtoliter chamber array for digital bioanalysis;

Dynamical Cluster Approximation Employing FLEX as a Cluster Solver

open access: yes, 2002
We employ the Dynamical Cluster Approximation (DCA) in conjunction with the Fluctuation Exchange Approximation (FLEX) to study the Hubbard model. The DCA is a technique to systematically restore the momentum conservation at the internal vertices of ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

The Industry 4.0 Induced Agility and New Skills in Clusters

open access: yesForesight and STI Governance, 2019
The fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) transformed global value chains by transforming them into adaptive networks of enterprises. To remain competitive, companies need to integrate themselves into these networks, which require increased ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Does Intraoperative Extracochlear Electrocochleography Correlate With Postoperative Audiometric Hearing Thresholds in Cochlear Implant Surgery? A Retrospective Analysis of Cochlear Monitoring

open access: yesTrends in Hearing
In recent years, tools for early detection of irreversible trauma to the basilar membrane during hearing preservation cochlear implant (CI) surgery were established in several clinics.
