Lidah buaya ( Aloe vera L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman obat yang dapat digunakan sebagai antiseptik untuk penyakit kulit seperti luka bakar, bisul dan jerawat. Lidah buaya mengandung saponin senyawa antibakteri yang berperan sebagai senyawa aktif luka bakar, anti jerawat dan bisul. Ekstrak maserasi lidah buaya diformulasikan menjadi sediaan gel.

Sediaan gel hand sanitizer mempunyai kelebihan yaitu dapat digunakan secara cepat tanpa memerlukan air, dan manfaat bunga rosella adalah dapat berfungsi sebagai antibakteri. CMC Na berfungsi sebagai bahan pembentuk gel karena turunan selulosa mudah mengembang jika ditambhakna dengan air panas dan akan membentuk cairan kental jernih yang bersifat netral.
