On the Road to Accurate Biomarkers for Cardiometabolic Diseases by Integrating Precision and Gender Medicine Approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The need to facilitate the complex management of cardiometabolic diseases (CMD) has led to the detection of many biomarkers, however, there are no clear explanations of their role in the prevention, diagnosis or prognosis of these diseases.

50 years of CMD [PDF]

open access: yesEurophysics News, 2018
Condensed Matter Physics touches some of the deepest phenomena in nature. Fascinating physics occurs throughout this very broad area of physics, largely enabling the technologies that underpin modern society. Since 50 years, the EPS Condensed Matter Division is the voice and the tool of the strong European Condensed Matter community.

Ascorbic Acid Modulates Collagen Properties in Glucocorticoid‐Induced Osteoporotic Bone: Insights into Chemical, Mechanical, and Biological Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Osteoporosis from long‐term glucocorticoid (GIOP) use elevates susceptibility to fracture. This study shows GCs impair ascorbic acid (AA) metabolism in osteoblasts, collagen synthesis and extracellular matrix integrity. AA enhanced collagen biochemical and mechanical properties and restored osteoblast and endothelial function. These findings underscore

Preliminary Study of a Ninj1‐Loaded Bimodal Ultrasound/NIR Fluorescence Targeted Molecular Probe for Diagnosing Early‐Stage Inflammation in Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) targeting remains a challenge for precise diagnosis. This work presents a dual‐modal nanoprobe (T‐IR780‐NBs) that combines ultrasound contrast with near‐infrared fluorescence. This technology utilizes proteomics‐derived antibodies that specifically localize to inflamed and injured cardiac tissue, enabling ...

Probing the LMC age gap at intermediate cluster masses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The LMC has a rich star cluster system spanning a wide range of ages and masses. One striking feature of the LMC cluster system is the existence of an age gap between 3-10 Gyrs. But this feature is not as clearly seen among field stars.

Learning Highly Dynamic Skills Transition for Quadruped Jumping Through Constrained Space

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A quadruped robot masters dynamic jumps through constrained spaces with animal‐inspired moves and intelligent vision control. This hierarchical learning approach combines imitation of biological agility with real‐time trajectory planning. Although legged animals are capable of performing explosive motions while traversing confined spaces, replicating ...

Molecular epidemiology, genetic diversity and dissemination routes of CMGs in sub-Saharan Africa and the south-west Indian Ocean (SWIO) islands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cassava cultivation is associated with a wide range of diseases that seriously undermine the food and economic security in African countries. The most notable of these is CMD, caused by a complex of cassava mosaic geminiviruses (CMGs; Geminiviridae ...

Stable Imitation of Multigait and Bipedal Motions for Quadrupedal Robots Over Uneven Terrains

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
How are quadrupedal robots empowered to execute complex navigation tasks, including multigait and bipedal motions? Challenges in stability and real‐world adaptation persist, especially with uneven terrains and disturbances. This article presents an imitation learning framework that enhances adaptability and robustness by incorporating long short‐term ...

Sulfate‐Directed Silver Dendrites with Enhanced Stability for Ultrasensitive SERS‐Based Therapeutic Drug Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents sulfate‐directed silver dendrites (s‐AgDs) as oxidation‐resistant SERS substrates with long‐term stability, reproducibility, and sub‐picomolar sensitivity. Sulfate ions guide anisotropic growth and protect the surface, enabling improved performance over 7 months under ambient conditions.

Quantum dynamical correlations: Effective potential analytic continuation approach

open access: yes, 2003
We propose a new quantum dynamics method called the effective potential analytic continuation (EPAC) to calculate the real time quantum correlation functions at finite temperature.
