Cases of Patients Treated in Countries With Limited Resources and Discussed by Experts of the International CML Foundation (iCMLf)—Case No. 1: A Boy Presenting With Priapism and Loss of Vision

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncological Medicine
Pediatric chronic myeloid leukemia (pCML) is a rare malignancy accounting for only 2%–3% of all childhood leukemias. Due to this rarity, familiarity with pCML is limited among most pediatric practitioners, including even pediatric hemato-oncologists.

Calcium signaling in plant defense

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, EarlyView.
Calcium signaling acts as a central hub in plant immunity, translating pathogen perception into defense responses. This review highlights the channels, sensors, and signaling networks involved, and discusses how pathogens subvert calcium dynamics, as well as how this knowledge may inspire innovative strategies for engineering durable crop resistance ...

Imatinib-resistance without BCR/ABL Point Mutation in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesCaucasian Medical Journal
Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative bone marrow neoplasm that occurs because of a fusion gene called BCR-ABL1. Imatinib -the inhibitor of this fusion geneis the target therapy in CML.

Disarming the Hsp70–Bim Alliance: Small‐Molecule and Peptidic Disruptors of a Chaperone‐Apoptotic Switch in Cancer

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Targeting a nucleotide‐sensitive groove on Hsp70 that binds the Bim BH3 helix, we integrate structures, biophysics, and SAR from peptides, fragments, and phenalene‐dicarbonitrile “wedges.” These disrupt the Hsp70–Bim complex with sub‐µM cellular engagement and in vivo activity while sparing Hsp90/mortalin.

Disease–Drug–Drug Interaction of Imatinib in COVID‐19 ARDS: A Pooled Population Pharmacokinetic Analysis

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 583-595, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Prior pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis revealed that increased alpha‐1‐acid glycoprotein (AAG) levels are associated with decreased imatinib unbound fraction in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) patients. This study aimed to investigate the PK of total and unbound concentrations of imatinib and the metabolite N‐desmethyl imatinib in ...
