Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Superior Venacava Thrombus-A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of College of Medical Sciences-Nepal, 2016
Superior venacava (SVC) thrombus is a condition requiring immediate diagnosis and treatment. SVC thrombus causes obstruction of blood flow through the SVC resulting in severe decrease in venous return from the head, neck and upper extremity to the heart.

The CMS trigger system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The CMS trigger system must reduce an input data rate from the LHC bunch-crossing frequency of 40 MHz to a rate which will be written to permanent storage. A detailed study has recently been made of the performance of this system. This paper presents key

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

A new boson with a mass of 125 GeV observed with the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider

open access: yes, 2012
The Higgs boson was postulated nearly five decades ago within the framework of the standard model of particle physics and has been the subject of numerous searches at accelerators around the world.
