Duplication of FOXP2 binding sites within CNTNAP2 gene in a girl with neurodevelopmental delay
We identified a novel sctutural variant in CNTNAP2 gene that affect FOXP2 binding site. Although we observed an incomplete penetrance, the role of CNTNAP2 and CNTNAP2-FOXP2 interaction in brain function strongly suggests that arr 7q35(146,054,661-146,464,

Behavioral Physiology of the CNTNAP2 Knockout Mouse. [PDF]
Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are composed of a range of conditions affecting the development of the nervous ststem; these groups of disorders are unified by characteristic impairments in social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors. Due to the somewhat hetereogeneous nature of these conditions, several environmental and genetic causes

The role of the CNTNAP2 gene in the development of autism spectrum disorder
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder in which genetic and environmental factors interact in its development. Research suggests that the contactin associated protein 2 (CNTNAP2) gene may play a role in ASD pathophysiology, yet more studies involving human participants and animal models of autism are needed.
