Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Minimum search to establish worst-case guarantees in coalition structure generation

open access: yes, 2011
Coalition formation is a fundamental research topic in multi-agent systems. In this context, while it is desirable to generate a coalition structure that maximizes the sum of the values of the coalitions, the space of possible solutions is often too ...

Overlapping Coalition Formation Games for Joint Interference Management and Resource Allocation in D2D Communications

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, an overlapping coalition formation game is proposed to conduct joint interference management and resource allocation in device-to-device (D2D) communications.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Tarsal Coalition is Not Necessarily Associated with a Flatfoot Deformity: A Cohort of Clinically Misdiagnosed Cases and Alignment Features in 41 Feet

open access: yesFoot & Ankle Orthopaedics, 2022
Category: Hindfoot; Ankle; Midfoot/Forefoot Introduction/Purpose: Tarsal coalition has been historically reported to be associated with a flatfoot deformity.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Pilot allocation scheme based on coalition game for TDD massive MIMO systems

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2019
Pilot contamination is a major factor that restricts the system performance of time division duplex (TDD) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. Reasonable pilot allocation is an effective method to reduce pilot contamination.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Equilibrium Coalition Structures in Three-Player Symmetric Games

open access: yesGames
In symmetric games with externalities across coalitions, we investigate how three players form coalitions using two solutions: n∗, which is a focal prediction of coalition structure in a class of noncooperative coalitional bargaining games, and ...
