Plasma Processing of Low Vapor Pressure Liquids to Generate Functional Surfaces

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The concept of depositing solid films on low-vapor pressure liquids is introduced and developed into a top-down approach to functionalize surfaces by attaching liquid polyethylene glycol (PEG).

Room temperature-curable, easily degradable, and highly malleable and recyclable vanillin-based vitrimers with catalyst-free bond exchange

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2022
Development of bio-based vitrimers attracted significant attention due to these species’ excellent recyclability and renewability. However, most bio-based vitrimers require high-temperature curation and catalyst use.

Effect of Al/Mg Ratio on the Microstructure and Phase Distribution of Zn-Al-Mg Coatings

open access: yesMetals, 2023
In contrast with studies such as those on the effect of a single elemental variable on Zn-Al-Mg coatings, Mg/Al is considered a variable parameter for evaluating the microstructure of Zn-Al-Mg coatings in this work, and the combined effect of the two ...

Optical and Physical Properties of Methyltrimethoxysilane Transparent Film Incorporated with Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2012
Methyltrimethoxysilane has been used as a base in the formation of transparent sol-gel coatings on glass substrates. Several types of alcohol were used as solvents in order to obtain the highest transparency and scratch hardness of the film.

UV-Cured Antibacterial Hydrogels Based on PEG and Monodisperse Heterofunctional Bis-MPA Dendrimers

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Bacterial infections are one of the major threats to human health due to the raising crisis of antibiotic resistance. Herein, second generation antibacterial heterofunctional dendrimers based on 2,2-bis(methylol)propionic acid were synthesized.

Thermal noise in half infinite mirrors with non-uniform loss: a slab of excess loss in a half infinite mirror [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We calculate the thermal noise in half-infinite mirrors containing a layer of arbitrary thickness and depth made of excessively lossy material but with the same elastic material properties as the substrate.

A millimeter-wave antireflection coating for cryogenic silicon lenses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We have developed and tested an antireflection (AR) coating method for silicon lenses at cryogenic temperatures and millimeter wavelengths. Our particular application is a measurement of the cosmic microwave background.

Imeglimin attenuates liver fibrosis by inhibiting vesicular ATP release from hepatic stellate cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Imeglimin, at clinically relevant concentrations, inhibits vesicular ATP accumulation and release from hepatic stellate cells, thereby attenuating purinergic signaling and reducing fibrogenic activation. This mechanism reveals a newly identified antifibrotic action of imeglimin beyond glycemic control.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...
