In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Structure and wear mechanisms of nano-structured TiAlCN/VCN multilayer coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Dry sliding wear of transition metal nitride coatings usually results in a dense and strongly adhered tribofilm on the worn surface. This paper presents detailed electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy characterizations of the microstructure, a newly ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Gas Tungsten Arc Welded High Manganese Steel Sheet

open access: yesMetals, 2019
This study investigated microstructure and mechanical properties of high manganese steel sheet fabricated by gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). The weld zone showed longitudinal coarse grains due to the coalescence of columnar dendrites grown into the ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Surface Charge Effects for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction on Pt(111) Using a Modified Grand-Canonical Potential Kinetics Method

open access: yesMolecules
Surface charges of catalysts have important influences on the thermodynamics and kinetics of electrochemical reactions. Herein, we develop a modified version of the grand-canonical potential kinetics (GCP-K) method based on density functional theory (DFT)

Fabrication of micro-/nano-structured superhydrophobic ceramic coating with reversible wettability via a novel solution precursor vacuum plasma spray process

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2018
A novel plasma spray process, solution precursor vacuum plasma spray, was developed and used to fabricate superhydrophobic ceramic coatings. By injecting Yb(NO3)3 solution into a plasma jet operated at low pressure, a crystalline Yb2O3 coating was ...

Chlorhexidine-filled porous ceramic coating fabricated by the aerosol deposition method for immediate and long-term enveloped virus inactivation

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2022
We developed an antiviral ceramic coating for immediate and long-term enveloped virus inactivation. The coating consisted of a porous ceramic coating fabricated by aerosol deposition and filled with chlorhexidine (CHX).
