Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Wear modelling of diamond-like carbon coatings against steel in deionised water
Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coatings are thin protective surface coatings used to reduce friction and minimise wear in a wide range of applications. The focus of this work is the use of DLC coatings within Rolls-Royce’s pressurised water reactors. A strong

Coatings have always held a special role in high-temperature materials as a potential opportunity to extend performance or enhance functionality. The traditional oxidation-or corrosion-resistant coating is essential to the success of many hightemperature structural materials by increasing the operating temperature or lifetime in environments that might

An assessment of the corrosion resistance of powder sprayed titanium coatings
Aluminium and stainless steels are susceptible to pitting corrosion in sea water. Mild steel is susceptible to corrosion in general. Titanium however, has good corrosion resistance in chloride solutions and thus is not susceptible to pitting in sea water.
