Cobalamin and folate deficiencies among children in the age group of 12-59 months in India

open access: yesBiomedical Journal, 2015
Background: Anemia is a major public health problem among children under 5 years of age in India. Cobalamin and folate deficiencies play an important role in the etiology of anemia.

An eye on long‐duration spaceflight: Controversies, countermeasures and challenges

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Space flight‐associated neuroocular syndrome (SANS) is a consequence of long‐duration space flight and is detected in two‐thirds of astronauts. In‐flight, this can cause a change in the refraction of the eyes, requiring graded hypermetropic ‘superfocus adjustable’ glasses, optic nerve head oedema and choroidal folds.

Cobalamin Protection against Oxidative Stress in the Acidophilic Iron-oxidizing Bacterium Leptospirillum group II CF-1

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
Members of the genus Leptospirillum are aerobic iron-oxidizing bacteria belonging to the phylum Nitrospira. They are important members of microbial communities that catalyze the biomining of sulfidic ores, thereby solubilizing metal ions.

Cobalamin and haptocorrin in human milk and cobalamin-related variables in mother and child:a 9-mo longitudinal study

open access: yes, 2013
Measurement of milk cobalamin is hampered by the high content of the cobalamin-binding protein haptocorrin, and limited data are available relating trustworthy measures of milk cobalamin to cobalamin status in healthy mothers and their ...

Dietary interventions in acute kidney injury: From molecular mechanism to clinical trials

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Ageing impairs renal resilience with an elevated risk of frequent and harmful acute kidney injury (AKI) that causes substantial morbidity and mortality among hospitalized patients. Since different damaging stimuli at the molecular, cellular and functional level contribute to this loss in kidney function, AKI's pathophysiology is heterogeneous ...

Cobalamin Deficiency Can Mask Depleted Body Iron Reserves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Vitamin B12 deficiency impairs DNA synthesis and causes erythroblast apoptosis, resulting in anaemia from ineffective erythropoiesis. Iron and cobalamin deficiency are found together in patients for various reasons.

Neuroprotective Effects of Biosynthetic d‐Calcium Pantothenate and Cyanocobalamin Against MPTP‐Induced Parkinsonism via Microbiota Modulation, Metabolic Homeostasis Restoration, and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Inhibition

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 4, July 2026.
Biosynthetic D‐calcium pantothenate and cyanocobalamin alleviate MPTP‐induced Parkinsonism in mice by modulating gut microbiota, restoring metabolic homeostasis, and inhibiting Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress. ABSTRACT Vitamin B5 (VB5) and Vitamin B12 (VB12) are essential micronutrients widely distributed in functional foods, yet their neuroprotective ...

First Revision of the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Remethylation Disorders

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This guideline summarizes diagnostic and therapeutic approaches based on a systematic literature review and evidence evaluation using the GRADE methodology. Given the limited high‐quality data, expert consensus was additionally obtained through a modified Delphi process.

Vitamin‐Responsive Disorders: From Molecular Basis to Clinical Presentation and Therapy

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Vitamin‐dependent cofactors are essential for numerous metabolic reactions, and defects affecting their uptake, conversion, utilisation, or regeneration constitute a heterogeneous group of inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs). Although dietary vitamin intake is sufficient to sustain coenzyme synthesis in healthy individuals, it is insufficient
