Biochemical Testing Promotes Interpretation of Variants of Uncertain Significance in Prenatal Genetic Disease Testing in Four Organic Acidurias

open access: yesClinical Genetics, Volume 109, Issue 2, Page 211-217, February 2026.
This review demonstrates how amniotic fluid biochemical testing provides critical phenotypic evidence (ACMG PP4) for reclassifying variants of uncertain significance (VUS) in prenatal organic acidurias. Integrating metabolite analysis with genetic testing enhances diagnostic accuracy and enables informed clinical decisions for affected families ...

Comparative effectiveness of sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists for incident dementia: A retrospective multicohort study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 1443-1452, February 2026.
Abstract Objective This study provides real‐world evidence on the comparative effectiveness of glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) and sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) regarding the risk of incident dementia in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

The Effect of Microneedling Mesotherapy, Chemical Exfoliation and Combination Therapy on Selected Skin Parameters and Cutibacterium acnes Colonization in Women With Oily Skin

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Oily skin is characterized by excessive sebum production and increased activity of Cutibacterium acnes. Aims To evaluate the effects of mandelic acid exfoliation, microneedle mesotherapy with a sebum‐regulating ampoule, and combination therapy on skin parameters and C. acnes activity in women with oily skin. Methods Fifty‐five women

Adult black soldier fly meal (imago, Hermetia illucens) as replacement for fish meal in diets for Pacific Whiteleg shrimp (Penaeus vannamei)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Adult black soldier flies (imagines, Hermetia illucens) are a by‐product of large‐scale insect larvae production. The suitability of this novel sidestream as a protein source in diets for juvenile Whiteleg shrimp (Penaeus vannamei, initial weight 5–6 g) was investigated in controlled feeding experiments in recirculating aquaculture systems ...

Isolated methylmalonic acidemia in Mexico: Genotypic spectrum, report of two novel MMUT variants and a possible synergistic heterozygosity effect

open access: yesMolecular Genetics and Metabolism Reports
Isolated methylmalonic acidemia (iMMA) is a group of monogenic metabolic disorders affecting methylmalonate and cobalamin metabolism. Five iMMA-responsible genes have been described to date: MMUT (MIM *609058), MMAA (MIM *607481, MMAB (MIM *607568 ...

Cobalamin C Deficiency - Experience of a Reference Center of Hereditary Metabolism Diseases

open access: yes, 2022
The cobalamin C deficiency (CblCD) is the most common inborn error of the cobalamin metabolism. It is characterized by inability to convert dietary vitamin B12 into the coenzymes adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin, in cell. The former is crucial for the activity of methylmalonyl CoA mutase and the later for methionine synthase.
