Early‐life Giardia infection and behavioural dysregulation in two dogs: A case‐based exploration of the gut microbiome–brain axis

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.
Abstract This case report describes two dogs exhibiting severe behavioural problems, both diagnosed with early‐life giardiasis and raised in environments lacking adequate maternal care and socialisation. Both dogs experienced chronic gastrointestinal and dermatological issues, as well as prolonged early‐life stress, which likely contributed to ...

Electroactive Biodegradable Nerve Conduits Based on Alginate–Gelatine Polymer Matrix Modified With Inorganic Nanoparticles

open access: yesNatural Sciences, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
The effects of ZnO, fullerene C60 and polyaniline (PANI) nanoparticles in hybrid nerve conduits are explored. The composites show enhanced electrical conductivity, permeability to physiological fluids and mechanical stability. The biocompatibility of composites is confirmed by in vivo and in vitro studies.

Late-onset renal TMA and tubular injury in cobalamin C disease: a report of three cases and literature review

open access: yesBMC Nephrology
Background Mutation of MMACHC gene causes cobalamin C disease (cblC), an inherited metabolic disorder, which presents as combined methylmalonic aciduria (MMA-uria) and hyperhomocysteinaemia in clinical. Renal complications may also be present in patients

Adaptive Algal Cultivation Enabled by a Monthly Biomass Forecasting System

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 3, Page 724-741, March 2026.
The developed monthly algal forecasting system used to predict biomass production for two algal strains (A and B) at two pond water depths (low and high). The highest predicted production, achieved with strain A at a low pond water depth, is selected as the cultivation strategy to guide the next month's algal growth.

Expert‐Designed Fact Sheets and AI‐Based Analysis of Patient Symptoms to Combat Diagnostic Delays in Inherited Metabolic Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The importance of early diagnosis of inherited metabolic diseases (IMDs) is well known, as it allows early intervention to prevent or reduce complications and improve prognosis, since many of these disorders are treatable. However, diagnosis can still be delayed, and many patients remain undiagnosed. Reducing diagnosis delays is a primary goal

Novel applications of the tomato microbiome: Roles and considerations for agriculture, human health, and society

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 2, Page 530-555, March 2026.
Plants, like humans, have a microbiome that helps them grow, defend themselves against pathogens, acquire nutrients, and protect themselves against environmental stresses. The microbiome of tomatoes, a staple crop grown worldwide, could be utilized not only to reduce fertilizer and pesticide applications, but also to clean up harmful pollutants ...

VDLIN: A Deep Learning‐Based Platform for Methylcobalamin‐Inspired Immunomodulatory Compound Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 7, 3 February 2026.
Using the convolutional neural network model VDLIN, Co7 is identified as a promising therapeutic candidate. Co7 demonstrates distinct advantages over MCB by effectively balancing anti‐inflammatory and immune‐stimulatory functions, making it a potential novel approach for immune modulation.
