SERRATE Regulates Floral Meristem Activity by Antagonizing SHOOT MERISTEMLESS and Repressing Cytokinin Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Floral meristem (FM) activity is crucial for the initiation of floral organs. In this study, SE represses IPT7 expression and cytokinin signaling via both the miR171c‐5p–KNAT2 and miR164c–CUC1/2–KNAT2 regulatory modules, thereby repressing FM activity. In contrast, STM induces both KNAT2 and IPT7 expression.

DMS‐MaPseq and DREEM Analyses Implicate the Critical Role of RNA Structural Dynamics in Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus Pathogenicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RNA structural profiling of Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus by DMS‐MaPseq and DREEM analyses uncover that viral genome‐wide RSS is highly complicated and heterogeneous, with alternative RSSs widely distributed across the genome. Notably, the viral 3’ tRNA‐like structure adopts alternative conformations in vivo.

Interaction of nonsense suppressor tRNAs and codon nonsense mutations or termination codons

open access: yesAdvances in Biological Chemistry, 2012
Codon nonsense mutations include amber, ochre, or opal mutations according to termination codon consisting of three types (TAG, TAA and TGA). Codon nonsense mutations are also divided into natural and artificial mutations. We discussed the interaction of codon nonsense mutations and suppressor tRNAs in vitro and in vivo.

Nonequivalence of Zfp423 premature termination codons in mice

open access: yesGENETICS
ABSTRACT Genetic variants that introduce a premature termination codon (PTC) are often assumed equivalent and functionally null. Exceptions depend on the specific architectures of the affected mRNA and protein. Here we address phenotypic differences among early truncating variants of mouseZfp423, whose phenotypes resemble Joubert Syndrome and Related ...

eRF1 mediates codon usage effects on mRNA translation efficiency through premature termination at rare codons

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2019
Abstract Codon usage bias is a universal feature of eukaryotic and prokaryotic genomes and plays an important role in regulating gene expression levels. A major role of codon usage is thought to regulate protein expression levels by affecting mRNA translation efficiency, but the underlying mechanism is unclear.

MicroCT reinvestigation of the only articulated fossil anostomid fish reveals synonymy of Arhinolemur Ameghino, 1898 and Megaleporinus Ramirez et al., 2017

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Arhinolemur scalabrinii† Ameghino, 1898 was originally described as a strepsirrhine primate (Mammalia) but has been recognized as an anostomid fish since 2012. It remains the only extinct anostomid species known from complete cranial material.

The evolving therapeutic landscape of spinal muscular atrophy – A scoping review of investigational agents, emerging delivery technologies and strategic innovations

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a severe neuromuscular disease with emerging therapeutic complexity. This review aims to systematically map the global pipeline of investigational treatments for SMA. Using ClinicalTrials.gov and complementary international registries, we identified 21 planned or ongoing interventional trials from 2020 to 2025 targeting

Codon recognition in polypeptide chain termination:site directed crosslinking of termination codon toEscherichia colirelease factor 2

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1990
An RNA synthesized in vitro was positioned on the Escherichia coli ribosome at the P site with tRNAala, and with a termination codon, UAA, as the next codon in the A site. Such a complex bound stoichiometric amounts of release factor 2 (RF-2); a corresponding RNA with UAC in place of UAA was not a template for the factor.

Population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modelling to evaluate favipiravir in combination with lopinavir–ritonavir in patients with COVID‐19

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims The repurposed use of favipiravir in COVID‐19 has been reported to have limited clinical efficacy, yet it has been widely used in some countries. Favipiravir causes mutagenesis in RNA viruses, and it is currently unknown whether it may have a measurable effect on the virus in humans.
