Mitochondrial gene expression uses a non‐universal genetic code in mammals. Besides reading the conventional AUG codon, mitochondrial (mt‐)tRNAMet mediates incorporation of methionine on AUA and AUU codons during translation initiation and on AUA codons ...

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

Background Accurate modelling of substitution processes in protein-coding sequences is often hampered by the computational burdens associated with full codon models. Lately, codon partition models have been proposed as a viable alternative, mimicking the

Most amino acids are encoded by more than one codon. These synonymous codons are not used with equal frequency: in every organism, some codons are used more commonly, while others are more rare. Though the encoded protein sequence is identical, selective pressures favor more common codons for enhanced translation speed and fidelity.

Compound Heterozygote Friedreich Ataxia Patients With Covert Proximal FXN Gene Deletions
ABSTRACT We present Friedreich ataxia patients with frataxin gene deletions. Data and records were collected at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from patients enrolled in the FACOMS natural history study. Patients with proximal deletions initially diagnosed with only one GAA expanded allele had more severe disease than their homozygous expansion

Dataset of 313 metagenome-assemble genomes from streamer hot spring water
This data report presents prokaryotic metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from a hot spring stream with temperatures between 64 and 100°C. The stream water was filtered and the extracted total DNA was sequenced using the Illumina HiSeq 2500 platform ...

ABSTRACT Objective To characterize the demographic, clinical, and laboratory features of the Chinese patients of genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob disease with T188K variant (T188K‐gCJD), the most common subtype of genetic prion diseases (gPrDs) in China. Methods In this nationwide retrospective study, data from 98 genetically confirmed T188K‐gCJD patients ...

The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

In this paper, the influence of the combination of last sense codon and stop codon on expression efficiency was studied. By our study, for the last sense codon CCG, the RFI of GFP(CCG) was 2.1 fold when the stop codon was UAA, but in comparison, the RFI ...

E. coli Extracellular Matrix: A Tunable Composite With Hierarchical Structure
The complex composite‐like mechanical behavior of E. coli biofilm matrix is the result of a synergic contribution of the rigid curli and swelling pEtN‐cellulose, and emerges from specific ratio and assembly conditions. The interactions between the two fibers govern biofilm hydration and characteristic wrinkling patterns, providing crucial insights for ...
