A short note on the continuous Rokhlin property and the universal coefficient theorem

open access: yes, 2014
Let $G$ be a metrizable compact group, $A$ a separable C*-algebra and $\alpha$ a strongly continuous action of $G$ on $A$. Provided that $\alpha$ satisfies the continuous Rokhlin property, we show that the property of satisfying the UCT in E-theory ...

Coefficient Alpha and the Reliability of Composite Measurements [PDF]

open access: yesPsychometrika, 1966
Following a general approach due to Guttman, coefficientα is rederived as a lower bound on the reliability of a test. A necessary and sufficient condition under which equality is attained in this inequality and hence that α is equal to the reliability of the test is derived and shown to be closely related to the recent redefinition of the concept of ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Joint temporal and contemporaneous aggregation of random-coefficient AR(1) processes with infinite variance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We discuss joint temporal and contemporaneous aggregation of $N$ independent copies of random-coefficient AR(1) process driven by i.i.d. innovations in the domain of normal attraction of an $\alpha$-stable distribution, $0< \alpha \le 2$, as both $N$ and

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

The French version of the surgical fear questionnaire is a valid and reproducible score to assess the fear of surgery

open access: yesJournal of Affective Disorders Reports, 2023
Backround: The Surgical Fear Questionnaire (SFQ) is a reliable tool to measure fear of surgery. It is the only self-reporting questionnaire that is suitable for all adult surgeries.

Concave univalent functions and Dirichlet finite integral

open access: yes, 2016
The article deals with the class ${\mathcal F}_{\alpha }$ consisting of non-vanishing functions $f$ that are analytic and univalent in $\ID$ such that the complement $\IC\backslash f(\ID) $ is a convex set, $f(1)=\infty ,$ $f(0)=1$ and the angle at ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
