Anisotropy coefficients of a Mueller matrix

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2011
Anisotropy coefficients α, β, and γ that describe the type and the relative amount of the three kinds of anisotropy generally present in a Mueller matrix are introduced. Their derivation, algebraic properties, and physical interpretation are discussed.

Anisotropy in the Hall coefficient of indium

Journal of Physics F: Metal Physics, 1986
The Hall coefficient of single-crystal indium was measured in two geometries: B//(100)(RH perpendicular to ) and B//(001)(RH//) at 4.2K. An anisotropy was observed in the Kohler plot: in intermediate and low fields, RH perpendicular to is more negative than RH//. Isothermal measurements of RH at 3.5K and 1.9K are also reported. The effects of the Fermi

Flow fluctuations and measurement of anisotropy coefficients

Indian Journal of Physics, 2011
Recent interest in fluctuations in the anisotropy coefficients enhances the need for an accurate determination of their values. It is argued, and shown using the help of simulated data, that the measured value of anisotropy coefficients obtained using certain commonly used methods to eliminate the contribution of non-flow correlations, may also be a ...

On Anisotropy of Nuclear Spin‐Diffusion Coefficient

physica status solidi (b), 1988
AbstractThe anisotropy of the spin diffusion coefficient for the simple cubic lattice is investigated. The analysis is based on using the non‐equilibrium statistical operator method. The form of the correlation function, which determines the spin diffusion coefficient, is treated by the momentum method.

Ab-initio study of anisotropy and nonuniaxial anisotropy coefficients in Pd nanochains

Chemical Physics Letters, 2013
Orbital moments and magnetocrystalline anisotropies of linear chains, ladder and zigzag belts of Pd are investigated by first-principle calculations. The second- and fourth-order anisotropy coefficients have been determined, and there are generally strong nonuniaxial contributions, yielding a saddle point in the energy landscape of the zigzag nanobelt.

Anisotropy of the backscatter coefficient of formalin-fixed ovine myocardium

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2007
The objective of this study was to measure the backscatter coefficient of formalin-fixed myocardial tissue as a function of angle of insonification relative to the myocardial fiber direction. Backscatter measurements were performed on eight cylindrical formalin-fixed lamb myocardial specimens and compensated for attenuation and diffraction effects to ...

Anisotropy of the transfer coefficients in organic semiconductors

Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry, 1970
Within the framework of the kinetic equation, the assumption of the existence of a relaxation tensor Τ is introduced. From the Onsager relationships in the zeroth approximation with respect to the magnetic field it follows that Τ commutes with matrix where v is the velocity of the electron or the hole.

Estimation of molecular anisotropy coefficients by a dielectric method

Chemical Physics Letters, 1992
Abstract Using three butyl chloride isomers as test compounds, it is shown that the shape of polar molecules determines in a significant manner the dielectric properties of their dilute solutions in non-polar solvents. Taking into account the anisotropy of both the shape and the polarizability of molecules allows one to reach a useful correlation of ...
