Oxidative Stress, Cytotoxicity and Genotoxicity in Earthworm Eisenia fetida at Different Di-n-Butyl Phthalate Exposure Levels. [PDF]
Recognized as ubiquitous contaminants in soil, the environmental risk of phthalic acid esters (PAEs) is of great concern recently. Effects of di-n-butyl phthalate (DnBP), an extensively used PAE compound to Eisenia fetida have been investigated in spiked

Establishment of the immunological self in juvenile Patiria pectinifera post-metamorphosis
Ontogeny of the immune system is a fundamental immunology issue. One indicator of immune system maturation is the establishment of the immunological self, which describes the ability of the immune system to distinguish allogeneic individuals ...

Riboflavin content in autofluorescent earthworm coelomocytes is species-specific.
We have recently shown that a large proproportion of earthworm coelomocytes exhibit strong autofluorescence in some species (Dendrobaena veneta, Allolobophora chlorotica, Dendrodrilus rubidus, Eisenia fetida, and Octolasion spp.), while autofluorescent ...

Pharmacological effects of bioactive agents in earthworm extract: A comprehensive review. [PDF]
EE blocks platelet adhesion and activation at the site of vascular injury. After vascular injury, many subendothelial matrix proteins are exposed to blood, including von Willebrand factor (vWF), fibrillar collagens, fibronectin and laminin, which facilitate platelet adhesion by binding to specific receptors on platelets; vWF binds the platelet GPIb‐V ...

In this paper, we find the currently applied sea urchin measurement techniques are not standardized, have high measurement errors and are labour‐intensive. Therefore, we develop a protocol requiring no specialised equipment and open‐source software that precisely and rapidly quantifies urchin wet mass and diameter.

Highly efficient optogenetic cell ablation in C. elegans using membrane-targeted miniSOG. [PDF]
The genetically encoded photosensitizer miniSOG (mini Singlet Oxygen Generator) can be used to kill cells in C. elegans. miniSOG generates the reactive oxygen species (ROS) singlet oxygen after illumination with blue light.

In Vitro Interactions of TiO2 Nanoparticles with Earthworm Coelomocytes: Immunotoxicity Assessment
Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) are manufactured worldwide. Once they arrive in the soil environment, they can endanger living organisms. Hence, monitoring and assessing the effects of these nanoparticles is required.
