Tax Morale, Leviathan and the Political Process: A Theoretical Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
It is proposed that a more accurate predicition of tax evasion activity than in the standard portfolio-choice model can be derived even for risk-neutral individuals if psychological costs are considered.

Dissonance reduction in nonhuman animals: Implications for cognitive dissonance theory

open access: yes, 2017
We review the evidence for dissonance reduction in nonhuman animals and examine the alternative explanations for these effects. If nonhuman animals engage in dissonance reduction, this supports the original theory as proposed by Festinger (1957) over the

Schooling Trajectories and the Development of Brain Dynamics: A Comparative Study of Montessori and Traditional Education

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigate whether Montessori and traditional schooling systems shape the developmental trajectory of large‐scale brain dynamics in different ways. We quantify the arrow of time (“non‐reversibility”) in neural activity during resting state and movie‐watching, revealing distinct maturational patterns.

explorations in dissonance #11— cognitive dissonance

open access: yes, 2008
This image is #11 in a series of 15 compositions that explore the use of dissonance in graphic design. My research and explorations of dissonance (in general) led me to the more specific theme of cognitive dissonance. I constructed hand-made letters for

Ferroelectric Devices for In‐Memory and In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by biological systems, in‐memory and in‐sensor computing overcome von Neumann bottlenecks. Ferroelectric devices can mimic synaptic functions and sense stimuli like light or force, therefore are ideal for these paradigms. This review introduces the ferroelectric devices applied for in‐memory and in‐sensor computing, covering their structures ...

Advances and Perspectives in Graphene‐Based Quantum Dots Enabled Neuromorphic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Graphene‐based QDs are zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials with pronounced quantum confinement and tunable electronic structures. Herein, we summarize their synthesis strategies and functionalization methods, and highlight their functional roles and operating mechanisms in devices, as well as recent advances in neuromorphic electronics. We anticipate

Organoid Brain‐Machine‐Interface Devices for Central Nervous System Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We envision organoid brain‐machine‐interface (Organoid‐BMI) devices as new biohybrid bidirectional communication pathways to connect the human CNS and the external world for personalized CNS repair and regeneration. ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) repair and regeneration suffer from tremendous clinical challenges due to current limitations in ...
