Emergence of a Hexagonal Fe2S2 Single Layer Without a Bulk Counterpart via Phase Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Upon annealing, single‐layer Mackinawite iron sulfide transforms into a previously unknown hexagonal Fe2S2${\rm Fe}_2{\rm S}_2$ phase with β$\beta$‐CuI structure. STM, LEED, and first‐principles calculations identify the structure and show that electronic correlations and magnetic order are important for its stability.

Laser-Induced Transient Opacity in Helium Nanodroplets Probed by Single-Shot Coherent Diffraction

open access: yesUltrafast Science
Single-shot coherent diffractive imaging with intense short-wavelength light pulses enables the structural characterization of individual nanoparticles in free flight with high spatial and temporal resolution.

Noniterative spatially partially coherent diffractive imaging using pinhole array mask

open access: yes, 2019
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a noniterative diffractive imaging method for reconstructing the complex-valued transmission function of an object illuminated by spatially partially coherent light from the far-field diffraction pattern.

Proximity‐Tuned Magnetic and Transport Anomalies in All‐Epitaxial Fe5−xGeTe2/WSe2 Van der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
All‐epitaxial and scalable ferromagnetic/non‐magnetic Fe5−xGeTe2/WSe2 van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures exhibiting room‐temperature magnetism and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) are realized. The system displays proximity‐tuned magnetic anisotropy, thickness‐dependent unconventional Hall effects, and temperature‐dependent sign reversal of ...

Controlling Structure and Stability in Ultrathin Ti3C2Tx MXene Multilayers for Hydrogen Gas Barrier Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrathin nanocomposite MXene‐based multilayer effectively blocks hydrogen permeation by presenting a tortuous, layered structure. When the MXene is layered with reduced graphene oxide modified with a polycation, the resulting nanocomposite retains its hydrogen gas barrier properties at temperatures as high as 400°C (permeability of 7.13 ± 0.09 × 10−

Coherent diffraction surface imaging in reflection geometry

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
We present a reflection based coherent diffraction imaging method which can be used to reconstruct a non periodic surface image from a diffraction amplitude measured in reflection geometry. Using a He-Ne laser, we demonstrated that a surface image can be reconstructed solely from the reflected intensity from a surface without relying on any prior ...

Bragg coherent diffractive imaging of polar domain structure in LiNbO3 thin films [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
We employ Bragg coherent diffractive imaging to reconstruct the three-dimensional [102] displacement field and strain within individual grains of ferroelectric LiNbO3 thin films.

Phase-diverse Fresnel coherent diffractive imaging of malaria parasite-infected red blood cells in the water window

open access: yes, 2013
Phase-diverse X-ray coherent diffractive imaging (CDI) provides a route to high sensitivity and spatial resolution with moderate radiation dose. It also provides a robust solution to the well-known phase-problem, making on-line image reconstruction ...

Low‐Flicker‐Noise MoS2 Transistors Enabled by High‐κ Rare‐Earth Oxychlorides for Mixed‐Signal Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐crystalline LaOCl and GdOCl form atomically abrupt, Cl‐terminated interfaces with MoS2, enabling near‐ideal switching and suppressed flicker noise. Carrier‐number‐fluctuation analysis yields effective noise‐derived interface trap densities of 1.15–1.94 × 1010 cm−2 eV−1, approaching hexagonal boron nitride levels with high‐κ coupling.
