A cohesive zone model for thermomechanical fatigue

Abstract In this study, a temperature dependent elastic-viscoplastic cohesive zone model is developed to predict the thermomechanical fatigue (TMF) behaviour of superalloys. The theory is based on rheological models enhanced with fatigue and creep damage variables which are micro-mechanically motivated.

Unified Cohesive Zone Model (Uczm) for Fracturing and Fragmenting Solids

A Unified Cohesive Zone Model (UCZM), which inherits most of the advantages while overcoming the shortcomings of existing Cohesive Zone Models (CZMs), is proposed. Similar to the traditional extrinsic CZM approach, UCZM dynamically inserts the cohesive elements into the system based on local material states (e.g., stress, strain).

On the Cohesive Zone Model for a Finite Crack

The paper concentrates on the development of the crack tip model with the cohesive zone in an infinite plate with a finite crack of mode I. The estimation of the length of the cohesive zone and the crack tip opening displacement is based on the comparison of the local stress concentration according to Westergaard's theory with the cohesive stress.

Abstract Single edge notch (SEN) aluminium specimens of widths (D): 20, 40 and 50 mm are tested under uniaxial tensile loading for a strain rate of 0.005/min. The notch depth to width ratio (a/D = 0.25) and the gauge length to width ratio (L/D = 2.5) are constant for these tested specimens.
