Wireless Metal Detection and Surface Coverage Sensing for All-Surface Induction Heating
All-surface induction heating systems, typically comprising small-area coils, face a major challenge in detecting the presence of a metallic vessel and identifying its partial surface coverage over the coils to determine which of the coils to power up ...

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Coil‐by‐coil image reconstruction with SMASH [PDF]
AbstractThe SiMultaneous Acquisition of Spatial Harmonics (SMASH) technique uses linear combinations of undersampled datasets from the component coils of an RF coil array to reconstruct fully sampled composite datasets in reduced imaging times. In previously reported implementations, SMASH reconstructions were designed to reproduce the images that ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Ultra-fast moving coil actuator for power switches in medium-voltage grids
The need for faster power switches leads to the following question: Which technical actuation principle has the highest acceleration potential? This study describes the investigation of electrodynamic moving coil (voice coil) actuators.

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
