Analysis of Innovative Incremental Cold Forming Process for the Manufacturing of Aerospace Rotating Parts [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 1: Processes, 2017
Cold rotary forging is an innovative incremental metal forming process whose main characteristic is that the workpiece is only partially in contact with a conical tool, reducing therefore the required forging loads. However, in spite of many benefits of such a process, wide industrial implementation of rotary forging is not possible without proper ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Damage Simulation of Pre-Forming V-Neck Plates with Variations in Material Type, Time and Temperature Using the Taguchi Method

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology, 2018
In metal forming, damage can be caused by several factors: load on the workpiece, initial heating temperature, and temperature due to the friction between the die and the material for pre-forming.

Investigation of the suitability of surface treatments for dry cold extrusion by process-oriented tribological testing

open access: yes, 2022
S.473-479In cold extrusion of aluminum alloys adhesive wear can be prevented by an excessive lubrication of the process. While this causes additional process steps also environmental risks have to be addressed. Hence, dry metal forming, i.e.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Method for Controlling Edge Wave Defects of Parts during Roll Forming of High-Strength Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2021
Cold roll forming is suitable for sheet metal processing and can provide a new method for the production and processing of anti-collision beams for commercial vehicles. In order to accurately control the edge wave defects of the parts in the roll forming

Contact Pressure Measurement System in Cross Wedge Rolling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the cross wedge rolling process (CWR), plastic deformation is geared by a driving torque transmitted by friction on die surface. Friction plays a role which has to be further identified in this metal forming process. The local contact pressure between

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Ecological lubrication in cold forming of sintered powder metallurgical components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this contribution a new lubrication approach for cold bulk metal forming is presented. By exploiting the process-related porosity of pm components as a lubricant storage, the resulting pressure of a forming process forces the stored oil to leak out ...
