The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Magneto-optical trapping forces for atoms and molecules with complex level structures

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
Laser cooling and magneto-optical trapping of molecules typically involves multiple transitions driven by several laser frequencies. We analyze how magneto-optical trapping forces depend on the angular momenta, F _l and F _u , and the g -factors, g _l ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Effects of cold stress on growth performance, serum biochemistry, intestinal barrier molecules, and adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase in broilers

open access: yesAnimal, 2021
The homeostasis dysfunctions caused by cold stress remain a threat to intestinal health, particularly for young broiler chickens. We hypothesized that adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) was involved in the regulation of cold stress ...

A cold strontium Rydberg gas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Cold gases of Rydberg atoms are an ideal system in which to study the novel effects of strong interatomic interactions. This thesis describes the design and construction of the world's first experiment to study Rydberg states in a cold gas of an alkaline

Cavity enhanced detection of cold molecules

open access: yes, 2022
Cold quantum gases are versatile tools not only to investigate quantum many-body physics and ultracold chemistry, but also for testing fundamental theories.

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Electronic spectroscopy of cold cations in a 22-pole trap by indirect methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The confining capabilities of a 22-pole ion trap have been employed to mea- sure electronic spectra of cations of astrophysical relevance. The ion trap sits on the head of a closed cycle cryostat, enabling collisional cooling of the confined ions with

Stereodynamical Control of Cold Collisions between Two Aligned D2 Molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
[EN] Resonant scattering of optically state-prepared and aligned molecules in the cold regime allows the most detailed interrogation and control of bimolecular collisions.
