Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 Inhibition May Facilitate Healing of Chronic Foot Ulcers in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Research, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
The pathophysiology of chronic diabetic ulcers is complex and still incompletely understood, both micro‐ and macroangiopathy strongly contribute to the development and delayed healing of diabetic wounds, through an impaired tissue feeding and response to ischemia.

Association between Overweight, Health Behaviors, and Insulin Resistance in School Children

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
The aim of the paper was to determine the association between children′s BMI, health behaviors, and HOMA‐IR. 1065 students (535M) aged 9.5 ± 2.1 y from 6 schools were examined. Questionnaires for healthy habits were completed. As all components could not contribute equally to overweight/obesity (OW/OB), a multiple regression analysis was done with BMI ...

Plant‐based meat analogues marketed in Catalonia: evaluation of the nutritional profile

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 2, Issue 3, July 2024.
Abstract In later years, a growing trend is apparent of vegetarian or vegan diets attributable to a number of causes, among of others, consumers’ concern for animal welfare, climate change and, to a lesser degree, for health‐related issues. On a par to this growth, availability of meat analogues in the market has also been on the rise. In this context,

Interplaying Factors That Effect Multiple Sclerosis Causation and Sustenance

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
The author hypothesized that multiple sclerosis (MS) is a humoral autoimmune disease, caused by faulty interplay between myelin‐specific, dimeric IgE, specifically competing non‐IgE antibodies and IgE‐triggered degranulating mast cells. The principal fault was believed to be insufficient quantity of protective, specific non‐IgE antibodies.

Increasing Dimensionality in Self‐Assembly: Toward Two‐Dimensional Supramolecular Polymers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 31, June 3, 2024.
Different approaches to attain 2D supramolecular polymers, following both a thermodynamic or a kinetic regime, are reviewed. The examples of 2D supramolecular polymers showed in this review demonstrate the utility of this strategy to achieve new 2D materials with biased morphologies and showing elegant applications.
