Administration of the NOD2 Agonist MDP Reduces Cryptosporidium parvum Infection in Neonatal Mice Through IL‐22 Involvement

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 10, October 2025.
Neonatal mice infected with C. parvum and treated with MDP, a NOD2 agonist, exhibited reduced intestinal infection. This protective effect was mediated by a local immune response involving neutrophil recruitment, IL‐22 production, antimicrobial peptide expression, and epithelial regeneration in an IFN‐γ‐dependent manner.

Escenario actual de la resistencia a la colistina mediada por plásmidos en América Latina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Colistin resistance can occur by chromosomal mutations and by acquisition of plasmid-carrying determinants, mainly mcr-1. In the recent years, we have observed the outburst of this resistance gene in our region. Due to the risk of the rapid dissemination

Colistin nephrotoxicity increases with age

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2014
Colistin (COL) has become the backbone of the treatment of infections due to extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Gram-negative bacteria. The most common restriction to its use is acute kidney injury (AKI).We conducted a retrospective cohort study to evaluate risk factors for new-onset AKI in patients receiving COL.
