Collagen IV Significantly Enhances Migration and Transplantation of Embryonic Stem Cells: Involvement of α2β1 Integrin-Mediated Actin Remodeling

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2011
Embryonic stem (ES) cell transplantation represents a potential means for the treatment of degenerative diseases and injuries. As appropriate distribution of transplanted ES cells in the host tissue is critical for successful transplantation, the ...

The Use of Collagen IV for Noninvasive Assessment and Follow up of Liver Fibrosis After Successful DAA Treatment of HCV Infected Egyptians [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical and Life Science
The use of noninvasive surrogate blood biomarkers for the assessment of liver fibrosis has gained increasing interest. In this study, 88 chronic hepatitis C patients (aged 21–68 years) were assessed for liver fibrosis using Collagen type IV (Col-IV ...

The Effect of Aerobic Exercise on Collagen Type I and IV Gene Expression and Collagen Type I Protein Changes in the Sciatic Nerve of Diabetic Rats

open access: yesNovelty in Biomedicine, 2020
Background: Neuropathy is one of the complications of diabetes, probably due to the destruction of the extracellular matrix and the thickening of the peripheral nerve basement membrane.

Comparison of the solophenyl-red polarization method and the immunohistochemical analysis for collagen type III [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
In the present study, we have compared the staining pattern of the Solophenyl-Red 3 BL-method for the visualization of collagen type III with the immunohistochemical staining in serial sections from 7 skin wounds (wound age 3 days up to 4 weeks) to ...

Collagen-I, Collagen-IV and Aquaporin-IV Protein Expressions Are Up-Regulated in Sheep Naturally Infected with Coenurosis; A Histopathological and Immunohistochemical Study

open access: yesActa Veterinaria
Coenurosis is defined as a common zoonotic disease caused by the larval form of Taenia multiceps, C. cerebralis. Research into the components constituting the extracellular matrix (ECM) for coenurosis in domestic animals is limited.

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Contribution of postnatal collagen reorientation to depth-dependent mechanical properties of articular cartilage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The collagen fibril network is an important factor for the depth-dependent mechanical behaviour of adult articular cartilage (AC). Recent studies show that collagen orientation is parallel to the articular surface throughout the tissue depth in perinatal

Lysyl oxidase (LOX)‐mediated remodeling of the extracellular matrix

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The lysyl oxidase (LOX) family of enzymes drives extracellular matrix remodeling by oxidizing collagen, elastin, and fibronectin, promoting covalent cross‐link formation. This activity regulates tissue architecture and mechanical properties, while its dysregulation contributes to fibrosis, cardiovascular disease, glaucoma, connective tissue disorders ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...
