Dispersal, deposition and collective doses after the Chernobyl disaster

Medicine, Conflict and Survival, 2007
This article discusses the dispersal, deposition and collective doses of the radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl accident. It explains that, although Belarus, Ukraine and Russia were heavily contaminated by the Chernobyl fallout, more than half of the fallout was deposited outside these countries, particularly in Western Europe. Indeed, about 40 per

Secondary particle collection in ion implantation dose measurement

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1978
The measurement of ion implantation doses in the presence of secondary ions and electrons emitted from the target is discussed. A circuit and electrode geometry for obtaining accurate ion beam current measurements in the presence of both positive and negative secondary particles is presented.

Estimating Individual and Collective Doses to Groups with ‘Less Than Detectable’ Doses

Health Physics, 1986
Distributions of annual external doses to worker populations are often found to be distributed lognormally below 15 mGy (1.5 rad). Using the properties of the lognormal distribution, and starting from individual dosimeter results, a method is presented whereby estimates can be made of collective and individual doses "missed" due to the fact that ...

Reply to `Comment on `Collective dose: kill or cure?' '

Journal of Radiological Protection, 2000
In his letter, Mike Avison doubts my view that there is no threat of a serious build up of small doses from many (radiation) sources. His doubts arise from the analogy with other pollutants, notably carbon dioxide. But this is not a sound analogy. There are not many sources releasing long-lived radioactive substances to the environment.
