Collision-avoidance and landing responses are mediated by separate pathways in the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Flies rely heavily on visual feedback for several aspects of flight control. As a fly approaches an object, the image projected across its retina expands, providing the fly with visual feedback that can be used either to trigger a collision-avoidance ...

Modular Control of PEG‐Poly(2‐Oxazoline) Co‐Assembly Enables Tunable Aggregate Properties for Intraocular Pressure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.

Design and application of automatic driving emergency collision avoidance control algorithm based on artificial intelligence technology

open access: yesMeasurement: Sensors
The topic of car intelligence has seen a surge in research interest in automobile active collision avoidance systems in recent years. When there is an obstruction in front of the vehicle, active braking or active steering can be used to prevent a ...

Design implementation and measurement of a collision avoidance multiple broadcast tree network [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Packet collisions and their resolution create a performance bottleneck in random access LANs. Collision avoidance switches are a hardware solution to this problem [1, 2].

One‐Step Microfluidic Manufactured Fucose‐Decorated Sweetosomes Choose the Time and the Road for Their Intracellular Journey to Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Sweetosomes, a new class of fucose‐decorated liposomes, are developed via a one‐step microfluidic process without surface chemistry. This study elucidates their main caveolae‐mediated entry and distinct endosomal trafficking. These nanostructures demonstrate superior endosomal escape, organelle acidity modulation, and prolonged plasma persistence ...

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and
