Colonization of a territory by a stochastic population under a strong Allee effect and a low immigration pressure [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 91, 062126 (2015), 2015
We study the dynamics of colonization of a territory by a stochastic population at low immigration pressure. We assume a sufficiently strong Allee effect that introduces, in deterministic theory, a large critical population size for colonization. At low immigration rates, the average pre-colonization population size is small thus invalidating the WKB ...

Short-term outcomes of Transrectal Natural Orifice Specimen extraction compared with conventional minimally invasive surgery for selected patients with colorectal cancer: a propensity score matching analysis and literature review

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology
Purpose Conventional minimally invasive surgery requires mini-laparotomy to extract the pathological specimen. However, by using a natural orifice as the delivery route, natural orifice specimen extraction (NOSE) surgery avoids the need for a large ...

On the local character of the extension of traces for Sobolev mappings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We prove that a mapping $u \colon \mathcal{M}'\to \mathcal{N}$, where $\mathcal{M}'$ and $ \mathcal{N}$ are compact Riemannian manifolds, is the trace of a Sobolev mapping $U \colon \mathcal{M}' \times [0, 1) \to \mathcal{N}$ if and only if it is on some open covering of $\mathcal{M}'$.
