Neutrophil deficiency increases T cell numbers at the site of tissue injury in mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In wild‐type mice, injury or acute inflammation induces neutrophil influx followed by macrophage accumulation. Mcl1ΔMyelo (neutrophil‐deficient) mice lack neutrophils, and in response to muscle injury show fewer macrophages and exhibit strikingly elevated T‐cell numbers, primarily non‐conventional “double‐negative” (DN) αβ and γδ T cells.

Color Enhancement for Four-Component Decomposed Polarimetric SAR Image Based on a CIE-Lab Encoding

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Color enhancement of decomposed fully polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) image is vital for visual understanding and interpretation of the polarimetric information about the target.

Functional role and folding properties of the glucan‐binding domain of oral bacterial glucansucrase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The role of the glucan‐binding domain in Streptococcus sobrinus glucansucrase was examined, focusing on its impact on enzymatic activity, dextran binding, and structural stability of deletion mutants and a circularly permuted protein. Our research revealed that glucosyl transfer efficiency is linked to cooperative interdomain folding.

Magnetic vortex in color-flavor locked quark matter

open access: yes, 2004
Within Ginzburg-Landau theory, we study the structure of a magnetic vortex in color-flavor locked quark matter. This vortex is characterized by winding of the SU(3) phase in color-flavor space, as well as by the presence of a color-flavor unlocked ...

COLORED SYMMETRIES IN SPACE–TIME

open access: yesComputers & Mathematics with Applications, 1986
AbstractThe paper displays a single objective: to show the emergence of symmetries as a universal, archetypal, self-organizing phenomenon which originates in an infinite number of forms all having the same trihedral innate structure. These forms have been generated by the use of a single-type, right-handed element containing three spatial dimensions ...

Ergothioneine supplementation improves pup phenotype and survival in a murine model of spinal muscular atrophy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disease affecting motor neurons. Individuals with SMA experience mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of an antioxidant and neuroprotective substance, ergothioneine (ERGO), on an SMNΔ7 mouse model of SMA.

Breaking the color-reddening degeneracy in type Ia supernovae

open access: yes, 2016
A new method to study the intrinsic color and luminosity of type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) is presented. A metric space built using principal component analysis (PCA) on spectral series SNe Ia between -12.5 and +17.5 days from B maximum is used as a set of ...

Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

Designing and Developing a Machine Vision System to Predict the Chlorophyll and Carotenoid Content of Plant Leaves [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Machinery, 2019
Introduction Leaf color is usually used as a guide for assessments of nutrient status and plant health. Most of the existing methods that examined relationships between chlorophyll status and carotenoid of leaf color were developed for particular species.

Color-Shift Measurement in Microlensing-Induced Stellar Variation from Future Space-Based Surveys

open access: yes, 2008
If a microlensing event is caused by a star, the event can exhibit change in color due to the light from the lens. In the previous and current lensing surveys, the color shift could not be used to constrain the lens population because the blended light ...
