Distance-dependent defensive coloration
SummaryCamouflage and warning coloration are usually viewed as alternative defensive strategies at opposite ends of the conspicuousness continuum. However, camouflage is compromised by factors such as habitat heterogeneity and motion [1], and aposematism

Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Color Development Mechanism of Urea–Urethane Developers for High-Performance Thermo-Sensitive Paper
A series of compounds with both urea and urethane moieties have been developed as color developers for high-performance thermo-sensitive paper. The compounds have lower environmental loads than conventional phenolic developers.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

The computational simulation of the reflection spectra of copper red glaze
Owing to the limitation of traditional analytical methods, the coloration mechanism of copper red glaze has been disputed in the academic field for a long time, which mainly focuses on whether the color agent is metallic copper nanoparticles or cuprous ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Mechanisms Underlying Segmentation of Colored Textures
This paper examines the nature of the post-receptoral chromatic and achromatic mechanisms involved in a texture segmentation task. Observers viewed a 64 x 64 square-element texture in which the chromaticity and brightness of each element was drawn from a one-dimensional Gaussian distribution of values centered at a white point in color space.
