ABSTRACT Monogeneans are among the most problematic ectoparasites in finfish aquaculture. Plant‐derived compounds have been widely explored as therapeutic agents, yet their efficacy and safety have not been quantitatively synthesized across studies. This study provides a meta‐analysis of plant‐based treatments against monogeneans, integrating 453 in ...

This research approaches the interaction between frugivorous fish and the flooded forests in the central Amazon. We evaluated the fruit consumption by fish and the seed dispersal potential along the flood gradient. We tested the hypothesis that the role of fish as seed dispersers varies between low várzea (LV) and high várzea (HV) forests.

Genomic Insights Into Carnivorous Fish in the Characiformes
This study employed comparative genomic approaches using 12 high‐quality Characiformes genomes (covering nine subfamilies) with zebrafish as an outgroup to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying the carnivorous adaptation of Characiformes. Expanded gene families, positively selected genes, and rapidly evolving genes in carnivorous species were ...

Effect of dichlorvos on the acetylcholinesterase from tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) brain [PDF]
Abstract Dichlorvos is an acutely toxic organophosphorous pesticide that is known as a classical acetylcholinesterase (AChE; EC 3.1.1.7) inhibitor. Here, the brain AChE from the important Amazonian fish tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) was assayed in the presence of this insecticide and also of deltamethrin, a classical sodium and ...

Exploring ecohydrology through the lens of local fishers in the Bolivian Amazon
Abstract The natural flow regimes of Andean‐Amazon tributaries play a vital role in sustaining their rich biodiversity and productive local fisheries, but ongoing and proposed alteration of river flow regimes by large dams threatens to negatively impact river ecosystems. Despite its importance, our understanding of how hydrologic variability influences
